PHASE 1
Language & Literacy Narrative + Multimodal Narrative Presentation + Rhetorical Summary
For Phase 1, you will analyze various texts and practice skills like rhetorical reading, narrative writing, and critical self-reflection. Among other smaller assignments, you will compose two Language & Literacy Narratives, one written and one presented, and a rhetorical summary of one of our course texts.

PHASE 2
Mini-Synthesis to Thesis Essay + Synthesis Essay
During Phase 2, you will deepen your knowledge of language politics (or another topic of your choice) and practice engaging in academic research. You are asked to determine the audience and genre of your rhetorical situation and to then work to meet the expectations of this audience (or to intentionally defy those expectations). Ultimately, you will locate and evaluate sources and compose the Synthesis Essay, which involves you introducing ideas/content, integrating and synthesizing sources, guiding readers, making clear your stance, and citing sources.
